John Henderson's Belfast Directory of 1850 focuses on the actual city of Belfast, unlike the later version of 1856, which covers all of Ulster. Spread over four hundred pages Henderson provides a street directory, alphabetical list of the inhabitants and a trade directory of the city, amounting to approximately 16,000 names. There are also details on some of the surrounding villages. Henderson also provided detailed information on the post service, as well as information on County Antrim. Also included is an advertisement section providing further details on the businesses and individuals of the city.
